Investigating Electromagnetic Shielding Properties of Building Materials Doped with Carbon Nanomaterials

Electromagnetic (EM) shielding has become an essential element in the modern world alongside increased use of electronic products and telecommunication equipment. We are surrounded by electromagnetic fields that have inevitably formidable our lives. It is possible to absorb EM waves adding materials. Researches focused addition different additives into cement based mixture increase shielding. This study aims investigate performance carbon nanomaterial on mechanical, properties composite. Hence, samples were produced using obtained composites. After 28 days curing, ultrasonic pulse velocity, flexural compressive strength, water absorption tests implemented for samples. As a result this research, it was concluded formed as percentage nanotube contribution increased, pollution partially prevented.

This study indicated that multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-epoxy composites can be used as effective lightweight shielding materials. The measurement results showed that highest EMI SE of 23.4 dB at 8 GHz was obtained for nanocomposite with 1 wt% MWCNTs.
